About the Author

Mary Ann Hogan, RN, CS, MSN has been a nurse educator for 20 years, currently as a Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. She has taught in diploma, associate degree, and baccalaureate nursing programs. A former item writer for the CAT NCLEX-RN, Ms. Hogan has been teaching NCLEX-RN review courses throughout New England for the last 14 years. She has also contributed to a number of publications in the areas of adult health and fundamentals of nursing. Ms. Hogan is an ANCC-certified clinical specialist in medical-surgical nursing and is a member of Sigma Theta Tau.

Karen Hill, RN, MSN, PhD has been a nurse educator for 15 years, currently as an Associate Professor at Southeastern Louisiana University in Hammond, Louisiana. She has taught in the baccalaureate program and holds graduate-teaching status. Dr. Hill has taught NCLEX-RN review courses, and her primary teaching responsibilities are in pharmacology and pathophysiology. She has contributed to publications on charting and teaching methodology and has co-authored a pharmacology review book. She is a member of Sigma Theta Tau, ANA, and LSNA.

A Must Buy for Patho Class

This book is a god sent, I did not touch my Patho book in the entire semester. I love Patho so it was music to my ears, when I listen to my teacher's lecture. I also use her power point, this kind of study worked for me but it may not work for others. Find what works for you and stick to it, many of my nursing friends tend to change the way of studying to many times and its worse every time. The book will definitely help you, I been buying all of the reviews and rationals and no complain about anything...

A nursing student's must!

I highly recommend all of Hogan's R&R books. They were awesome for studying in nursing school, this one was more helpful in the last semester of nursing school when we were doing advanced med-surg, and it was more multi-system and shock. If you are looking for a good one for the first med-surg class, I highly recommend Medical-Surgical Nursing: Reviews and Rationales and the Fundamentals R&R as well. Hope this helps! Good luck!

Love these books! 4th semester I was too busy and this book helped me tremendously. Breaks down complex patho into easy to understand material;good study questions & test prep. I took it everywhere, and also used it to write my care-plan concept maps. Includes NANDA's and interventions. Great book. I put the whole series on my Christmas list and my family purchase them all for me. easy for them to afford at $24-25 dollars each. I will definitely keep these, and now I'm using them to prep for my NCLEX.

Where the Secret Gets its Magic

This is one of the kinds of books that is filled with the treasures that have become so popular with "The Secret." It is not an easy, easy read, but what you need to know and how to do it are here. This is a gem. Oprah may not be talking about his one on her show, but I guarantee this will illuminate. Oprah doesn't know everything. Although she is doing a great job of helping spread the word, I'll admit. This book was written in the 1930s, when so many of these "new-fangled" ideas were manifesting AGAIN. This stuff isn't new, but thank goodness it keeps coming back. Eventually we may get it. We have the power inside us to do whatever we really (REALLY is the kicker) desire that is aligned with universal good. If we learn to APPROPRIATELY focus our thoughts and feelings we can attract any good we can imagine. Not easy, but no matter how close you get, life will almost certainly improve because you become aware of your true nature, aware of where you come from, why you are really here.

If it is meant for you, you'll read it.

The first time I read this book was when a friend gave it to me during a trip. He told me: "I recommend this book to almost everybody, and still few or none read it." He said that this book helped him recuperate from financial problems and find a new job. Basically, he was a living proof of the effectiveness of this book. I read it in three nights, and after that this book became one of my most recommended books. At that time it was out of print, as soon as I realized that I could get it on amazon I bought it. Now it is even available as an ebook. Interestingly enough, I cannot recall anyone reading it after me effusive recommendations! It feels like this book is read only by people that are ready to learn its lessons. Or maybe it is the lack of appeal (i.e. The Secret) that makes people less attracted to it.

If you believe that you can create your destiny and that you have conscious control over your life, this is a book for you. It is very similar to what "The Secret" talks about, but maybe from a more intellectual and scientific way. There are some simple things, that might seem trivial, that might help people trust this book more: 1)It is not super commercial 2) Longevity. Somehow it feels like one of those really secret books (at least that's how it felt after so many years of being out of print).

Love this book!

Like other reviewers have mentioned, if this book is meant for you, you will ready it! And I read this book at a very difficult time in my life and it has changed the way I look at the whole universe. It is where the secret gets it's magic, and where other books on the law of attraction gets it theme from. It was written in the 1930's I think, but the overall message is not lost. Great book!
